Birthday!

Technically, I don’t have a baby anymore.  He turned two.  I can’t believe he’s that old!  How did that happen?  Seriously, it seemed to take SO LONG before my oldest turned two.  I mean, it must have been two years or something … But the last two years haven’t felt that long.

Just look at that little doll!  isn’t he adorable?  His hair is growing out after that horrible, too-short, buzz cut I gave him, and it’s getting long enough for the tousled look again.

J was born on my grandma’s birthday, and she and my grandpa came up to visit.  It was only when I sat down to write this post that I realized I didn’t get them in any pictures!  Rest assured, they are there.

At first, J wasn’t sure what to do with the presents.  He just held it and tried to smile for me.

Then Daddy showed him what to do …

And the rest is history.  He’s very pleased with his haul.

He got books, he got legos, he got a sword,

Hardly a waking moment has passed that he doesn’t have this airplane clutched in his little hands.

We bought him a rug.  Ha.  There you go sweetheart, Happy Birthday.  Here’s a rug.  … But this is a very special rug.

Notice, not only does it have an airport, too, but he also knew the proper way for the airplane to take off.  Grandpa’s copilot, maybe?

I got out my cake book and let J pick which cake he wanted.  I was a little surprised when he picked the lemon poppy seed Bundt cake, but if that’s what he wants, that’s what he gets (and it did have a glaze, but it all seeped into the cake – mmmmmm, it was good).   He also picked plain vanilla ice cream.

I took him out two days later to spend the money he got, and he ended up with this lego set.  Between this set and the other one he got, the kids now have enough legos (Sorry, my girls never wanted legos, so we just didn’t have any) to play happily on the floor together without too much contention.

Like they were doing this morning.

Sometimes J even gets a few minutes to play with his legos by himself.  Wow, what a concept!

And even when the tower fell down, he set right to work fixing it.  What a kid!  Happy Birthday, Baby Boy!
