Pushing my oldest daughter down a BIG hill!

Sledding with my youngest daughter!

Everything we’ve been doing …

Ok, so not everything, but I’m sure you’re not interested in the daily stuff, so here’s the latest excitement we’ve had.

I didn’t to much in January, mostly because one of my best friends had her baby at the beginning of the month, and I was only half done with her blanket.  I crocheted until my hands cramped, and kept going, but I had the blanket ready for the baby’s blessing.

We got to go on another trip.  My mom was working a lot, but we found ways to have fun.  We spent a whole day with my grandparents.  They had this awesome track the kids played with all day.

And it’s a rule, you have to make cookies when you visit Grandma’s house!

Rule number #2, you must visit the zoo.  This monkey (yes, I realize he’s probably not technically a monkey, but a lemur or something, but I’m not in the mood to worry about it …) jumped to the ledge where S was sitting by the window and sat next to her for a while.

We visited my Great-grandma, too, so this is a pic of my kids with their Great-great-grandmother!

When we told the girls that C was flying on an airplane, they wanted to see the plane.  But of course, we can’t exactly walk him to the gate, like in old days, so they were disappointed.  Luckily, I have some hook-ups in that area, and we did get to take them out to see a plane.

Even J got into it, until he realized the seats looked an awful lot like car seats, and he’d spent too much time in the car lately.

From them on, he viewed the planes from the safety of his daddy’s arms!

My two little pilots in training!

They wanted to get in every plane there was, but it was getting cold and dark, so we had to settle for only two.

They thought it was pretty cool that they could walk on the wing!

Our trip was fun, but it seems we always miss people when we go down because we’re never there for very long.  I did get to spend some more time with my new sis-in-law, and I like her more and more as I get to spend more time with her.  My brother picked a good one! Winking smile  I got to take my kids to see my mom in her office and take her out to lunch.  I remember my mom taking us to lunch with my grandma when I was little, so that was fun for me.  And it was nice to play hooky from school and life and just have a few days of fun!

Hobby Horses

I made J a hobby horse like the girls' this year because I figured he'd eventually be big enough to use it. Good thing. He's not big enough, but he sure knows which one is his, and he loves it!

Communication

This little guy hasn't started talking yet, but he sure is getting his point across! I had to sneak the camera in (I cut out the shots of the cabinets and the front of the stove while I walked in) so he wouldn't stop what he was doing, but he caught me in the end, anyway. :-)

A Birthday and more Life!

I was really proud of my Pinewood Derby this year.  It’s my third since I was put in as Cubmaster, and I’m feeling like I’m getting the hang of it.  This year I made a cake, which I was also proud of.

J has figured out how to push the kitchen chairs around and get up on the table and the counters.  Nothing is safe anymore!

We did finally get some snow.  It didn’t stay very long, but we did get out to play once before it turned into rain and disappeared.

J has become obsessed with shoes.  He must always have a pair of shoes on … even if they aren’t his!

IMG_4323

We had a Birthday!  I can’t believe how old my L is.  When did that happen?!

IMG_4376

I always let my kids pick a cake for their birthday.  This year, L picked a “Buttery Citrus Lemon Cake”.  The recipe sounded good, but I may have just met the first cake that I don’t care to eat.  The cake itself was wonderful, but I couldn’t get past the lime zest in the frosting.  Blech …  But, it wasn’t my cake, and L ate it up!  As did everyone else …

I also made some popcorn balls to take in to L’s class at school.  She wanted pink, so we made pink for the girls and blue for the boys.

And last of all, since L is six years old, we went ahead and bunked the bunk beds the girls have been sleeping on for two years.  It really opens up their room, and they love it!
